My Journey to God

Walking with Jesus

Oh, Jesus, is it really true?
Oh, Jesus, was it really you?
You came to me and sat with me
We talked awhile and shared a smile,
You asked me what you could do,
I gave you my list, a long one, too—
You said you’d carry this for me,
I could give you all my worries.
And looking in your eyes I knew,
What really mattered was just loving you
And I didn’t want to leave this place,
Of peace and light, of hope and grace.
If I could always see your face
And feel your loving, warm embrace—
You looked at me with loving eyes,
So kind and gentle, yet, so wise,
You know me all so well
No words were needed any more.
We stood and walked together,
I knew your visit was almost through,
But I would come back and talk to you—
And someday these visits would never end,
Jesus, my Lord and God, my friend!
